A beautifully illustrated children’s grief book helping young hearts cope with the loss of a mother. Faith-filled story with practical guidance for caregivers.

Ages 4–7 • 37 pages • Paperback

What Cloud Is My Mommy In? is a tender, hope- and faith-filled children’s book created to help young hearts navigate the loss of a mother. Because experiencing loss can feel overwhelming and frightening for a child, this beautifully illustrated story gently walks alongside them through grief, questions, and healing.

In the story, a little turtle loves doing fun things with his mommy — especially flying a kite. However, his world is suddenly turned upside down when his mother becomes ill and goes to the hospital. When his father explains that she has gone to heaven to live with God, the turtle must learn how to live without her.

As he wonders whether his mommy is living in a cloud, his grandmother and others help guide him through the first year following her death. Along the way, he learns that it is okay to cry, laugh, and feel happiness again — while continuing to love his mommy with all his heart.

In addition to its touching story, this book provides practical recommendations for adults supporting grieving children, including:

  • Honoring special memories

  • Creating tangible remembrances

  • Navigating shared grief in gentle, supportive ways

This meaningful resource offers both emotional reassurance for children and guidance for parents, caregivers, teachers, and ministry leaders.
